Mr Trymore Rupiya, the manager at Mole Nursery Flowers, confirmed the damage.
“I only saw the fire on top of the showroom and I suspect that it was started by people who were clearing their field. I suspect that the fire started around 3.30pm. We called the fire brigade and they arrived about 30 min­utes later,” Mr Rupiya said.
Cases of uncontrolled fires have resulted in people being burnt to death and equipment destroyed. Two chil­dren of members of the Johane Masowe Apostolic Church in Gweru were burnt to death a fortnight ago when a veldfire broke out during an open air church service. So far about seven people have been killed in veldfires this year.
