The National University of Science and Technology will host a symposium on emerging technologies this Friday.
The event is expected to bring together visionaries, experts and enthusiasts to discuss the latest trends in fintech, medtech and quantum computing.
The NUST Graduate School of Business (GSB), a member of the Association of African Business Schools (AABS), is hosting the symposium.
It will run under the theme “Fostering Collaborations Between Academia and Industry for National Development in the 4IR”.
Dandemutande Investments chief executive Mr Never Ncube, a licensed internet access service provider, will be guest speaker.
He has over 27 years experience in corporate strategy, governance, and secretarial duties.
He has received numerous accolades from the Megafest Business Awards, Zimbabwe CEO Network, Institute of Personnel Management of Zimbabwe (IPMZ) and the Zimbabwe Business Council.
The symposium complements Government’s efforts towards the attainment of Vision 2030 through implementation of the National Development Strategy 1.
Discussions during the fintech session titled “How Fintech is Revolutionising the Banking Industry” will be led by Mr Patrick Maseko, executive head of innovation at ZB Financial Holdings.
With his vast experience and expertise in the field, Mr Maseko will provide valuable insights into the transformative power of fintech.
Mr Nduduzo Tshuma, head of digital transformation at EcoCash Holdings; and Mr Royce Sibanda, a senior manager at FBC Bank Bulawayo, will join him during the panel discussions.
Mr Vulindlela Ndlovu, the CIMAS chief executive, will deliver a keynote address on “The Seamless Integration of Technology and the Medical Industry”.
Ms Rebecca Chimheno will be the keynote speaker during the quantum computing session.
Ms Chimheno is an author, cybersecurity lecturer at Chinhoyi University of Technology, and a thought leader and peer reviewer for the Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education.
