Nutty O wins big at Star FM Awards

Nutty O emerged as the biggest winner at the Star FM Listeners’ Choice Awards where he walked away with five gongs.
It was glitz and glamour at the fourth edition of the music awards held at the Zimpapers Radio House Gardens in Harare on Saturday.

The event featured a star-studded line-up of Mwenje Mathole, Sylent Nqo, Dhadza D, King Shaddy and Karizma.

Nutty O, the Handipere Power hit-maker scooped Song of the Year, Best Song of the Year and Best Zimdancehall Song with Handipere Power, Album of the Year with Mustard Seed, and the Best Male Artiste award.

Hosted by Miss V Candy, the awards ran under the theme #TurnItUp.

Commenting on the awards Nutty O said: “My heartfelt gratitude to each and every person who voted on each category. This is yet another gesture of affirmation from you to ABX. You keep me believing by believing in me. You keep me inspired and encouraged to do music with heart from the heart. These awards are a pure reflection of your love and support for this man,” he posted on his social media accounts yesterday.

Gospel sensation Mambo Dhuterere’s collaboration with Botswana’s singer Zolasko on the song Hamen Hlebana paid off as he won two gongs, for best the Best Gospel Song and the Best Collaboration. Fusion 5 outfit won two awards for Best Rn’B Song Kuhope and Best Duo or Group.

Star FM which is celebrating its 10th anniversary of broadcasting next month, under the theme “X-treme Radio” also honoured 10 music brands that have grown with the station to become household names. These accolades were given to Nutty O, Tamy Moyo, Takura, Freeman, Janet Manyowa, Minister Mahendere, Gemma Griffiths, Tocky Vibes, Ex-Q and Enzo Ishall.

Renowned drummer and music promoter Sam Mataure was awarded the Lifetime Achievement gong.
