BOB Nyabinde and his band, the Savanna Drive, will serenade afro-jazz revellers at a free-to-enter family show at Archer’s Sports Club in Bulawayo tonight.

The veteran afro-jazz musician, who will be making his way to the city today, said he would have a solo performance to thank fans for supporting him and his music career.

The Chabuda Hapana hit-maker said his fans should prepare to dance to his old and new songs.

“I am going to be at Archer’s Sports Club to meet old and new friends who I haven’t seen in a long time. I am going to be performing songs including Anzwa Hama, Vasikana Vanonakidza Kwazvo, Tonga Nyaya Dzinonetsa Pano and Pfuma Yangu,” he said.

Archer’s Sports Club manager, Gift Karidza, said they were hosting the show to give Nyabinde an opportunity to interact with his fans from the Matabeleland region.

“This is going to be Nyabinde’s thank you show for his fans who continue supporting his music not only in Bulawayo, but the whole Matabeleland region,” Karidza said.

The show will also serve to promote his latest album, Anzwa Hama, which was released last year.

Karidza said those who will attend the family event will have an opportunity to sample his deep, lyrical and sometimes satirical music.

Nyabinde, who is among the most honoured crooners in the country, hit the spotlight in 2002 after releasing his first album, Panenyaya, which had the well-known song, Chabuda Hapana. In 2004, he produced his second album Ndiratidze which became another chartbuster followed by Terera in 2006. Anzwa Hama is his latest offering.
