Nyadombo backs coach

AMAZULU captain Carlington Nyadombo has thrown his weight behind coach Craig Rosslee amid a disappointing start to the season.
The Durban-based side are going through a rough patch that has left them rooted to the bottom of the table after failing to register a win in their first six League outings.
Usuthu’s predicament, as well as the coaching merry-go-round having begun in the Absa Premiership, has led to speculation Rosslee would be the next to get the sack despite management arguing he has its support.

However, Nyadombo insists the coach has the players’ backing.
“We are fully behind the coach,” the Zimbabwean international tells KickOff.com.

“There have of course been rumours but we are not reading much into them as we are supportive of the coach and the technical team.
“As players, we still want him and can only fight for each other to move away from the current position.

“We still need to help turn things around and we also need the encouragement from fans.
“Personally, I believe this is not the right time to chase the coach and bring in someone new.

“It will not be easy to start from zero again.”
Nyadombo hints the coach is not to blame for the team’s struggles this season.

“In almost all the games that we have played, I think we have created more than our opponents but went on to get bad results as we did not convert the chances that we created. It is high time we took our chances,” he adds.

The reigning Amazulu Players’ Player of the Season concedes the team’s current form is of concern to the multitude of Usuthu fans.
“At the moment the supporters are understandably angry,” he says.

“Most of them are upset.
“They just cannot tolerate this. They need a win. However, some have been cheering and have belief in us turning things around.”

A visit to Bidvest Wits on Friday affords them that opportunity.
This will be followed by a home fixture against Bloemfontein Celtic in the Telkom Knockout Last 16 encounter on the weekend of October 4/5.

“Celtic beat us the last time we played in Durban, which is unacceptable.
“However, this one will not be a walk in the park.

“It is high time we started winning something for the team and our supporters who have not had any cup success to celebrate in many years,” concludes the club skipper. — KickOff.
