TWO tenants who share the same house dragged each other to the civil courts over insults and ZESA bills. Rufaro Nyabasa appeared before Mutare magistrate Mrs Sharon Chipanga for allegedly insulting her fellow tenant, Shamiso Nyambiya. In her defence, Nyabasa said she was a mother of two who was recently married, but was having challenges having more children.
She told the court that the complainant had insulted her by playing Marshal Munhumumwe’s song ‘‘Mbereko yakaramba’’ as she was failing to conceive.
Nyambiya told the court that Nyabasa was lying. She said she was a violent and provocative person.
“Your Worship, she is lying. When she comes home from a drinking binge she always insults me. I am a peace-loving person. I never respond to her insults.
“On September 2, she came home at around 9pm and she threatened to burn the house. I decided to make a police report,” said Nyambiya.
Nyambiya also told the court that Nyabasa refused to pay electricity bills. The court heard that the following day she threatened to beat her up and she decided to seek a protection order against her.
The protection order was granted and the two were ordered to live peacefully.
