WITH captain Emmanuel Jalai rested after a gruelling national team schedule, Dynamos vice-captain Shadreck Nyahwa now shoulders the burden of leadership, tasked with dragging the fading giants out of a deepening crisis.

Regular skipper Emmanuel Jalai has been given time off to recover after back to back international appearances in Morocco, two games in four days and the long journey back leaving the defender physically taxed.

His absence comes at a crucial point for Dembare, who are languishing in 16th place on the Premier Soccer League table with just 10 points. The once mighty Glamour Boys have picked up only two points in their last five outings, prompting panic among fans and growing calls for accountability. Some frustrated supporters have even hinted at boycotting home games in protest. But Nyahwa is not panicking, he’s focused.

“We’ve been working hard to collect three points against Bikita. They’re not an easy team, especially since they’ve been winning away from home,” Nyahwa said, fully aware of the threat their opponents pose. He admitted Dynamos’ blunt strike force has been a major concern.

“Scoring has been our biggest challenge. But it’s not just on the strikers, everyone has a role to play in making sure we find the back of the net,” said Nyahwa.

“If we can score, that puts us in a better position to win games.” Nyahwa also acknowledged Jalai’s absence but urged teammates to take collective responsibility.

“Jalai is our captain, and he’ll be missed. But everyone in the team is a leader. We all need to step up and fill the void,” he said.

“We’ve got some talented youngsters, and they’re beginning to understand what it means to play for Dynamos. As seniors, we try to motivate them, but it’s up to them to rise to stardom.”

With their season teetering on the edge, all eyes will be on Nyahwa and his charges to see if they can reignite Dynamos’ flickering flame. Catch the action LIVE on our sister channel, ZTN Prime (DStv Channel 294).
