REJUVENATED Dynamos midfielder Shadreck Nyahwa feels the giants are capable of finishing off Orapa United in the decisive second leg of the second preliminary CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday.
Dynamos carry a one-goal advantage over the Botswana side going into this tie to be played at the Obedi Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown.
The Glamour Boys won the reverse tie 1-0 at the same venue last Sunday when they were the away team.
They go into this fixture knowing fully that they need to defend the slender lead and get through to the group phases of the tournament where they will be guaranteed at least US$400 000.
And Nyahwa, who has been a revelation since interim coach Lloyd “Mablanyo” Chigowe took over the reins from the fired Genesis Mangombe last month said DeMbare are keen to progress to the group stages.
He said the players are well-calibrated for Sunday’s fixture.
“The preparations are all good and what we do at training is exactly what we must do and succeed in the game on Sunday,” said Nyahwa.
“It’s going to be a difficult game, yes but as players, we know our game plan and we have been in this situation before but now it’s a different ball game so we need to be focused”.
Dynamos carried the same lead over ZESCO United of Zambia going into the second leg in the first preliminary round last month.
And they managed to contain their opponents at their own home in Ndola, forcing a goalless draw in the tie.
It is that spirit that Nyahwa is itching to see from his teammates going into Sunday’s fixture.
“We need to go out there and make sure that we are in full control of the game.
“We are not going to defend throughout the 90 minutes.
“But we need to play football, make those forward forays, and ensure that we give it all that we can,” added Nyahwa.
“We are prepared to suffer as a team and everything is encouraging in the team.
“The boys are raring to go and everyone is eager to play a role on Sunday.
“We know that we just have to concentrate for the 90 minutes and we are home and dry.
“The coach is always telling us what it means and we know what it means for the team to be in the CAF Confederation Cup group stages.
“We know what it means for us as players, for the team, for the league and the country.
“So we will go out there to express ourselves and defend not only our badge as a team but to raise the country’s flag high”.
With Orapa United practically at home given they would be playing in familiar territory, Nyahwa said Dynamos will be under a bit of pressure to absorb that feeling.
“Yes we will be the home team but there is a feeling that we will still be away. But that won’t sway us in any way.
“We will tell ourselves that we need to do whatever we should to safeguard our lead.
“We are prepared to suffer and we need to focus for us to get over the line”.
The Glamour Boys have a clean bill of health having welcomed back Sadney Urikhob and Issah Sadiki from the treatment room.
