Minister Kasukuwere said the appointments were in accordance with Section 7 (1) of the Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Act (Chapter 14:33).
Those who retained their positions on the board include Africa University dean of students Dr Ellen Gwaradzimba, lawyer Mr Farai Mutamangira, businessman Mr Adam Molai and national research and advocacy officer of the National Association of the Societies for the Care of the Disabled and Handicapped Mr Tsaurai Mungoni.
Other newcomers to the board are Mr George Magosvongwe the Acting Secretary for Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment, young entrepreneur Mr Innocent Munyaradzi Hamandishe, economics lecturer Dr Jasmine Chipika and economist Mr Brains Muchemwa.
Others are Bulawayo businesswoman Ms Thandiwe Nkomo, lawyer Mrs Florence Ziumbe, acting chairperson and lecturer for the Department of Political and Administrative Studies at the University of Zimbabwe Dr Charity Manyeruke, Secretary for Small and Medium Enterprises and Co-operative Development, Mrs Evelyn Ndhlovu and Secretary for Industry and Commerce, Mrs Abigail Shonhiwa.
The director for Indigenisation Mr Godfrey Sigobodla and lawyer Mr Clement Phiri were also appointed as alternates.
Among some of the objectives of the new board set by Minister Kasukuwere were to ensure that all qualifying businesses comply with the indigenisation and economic empowerment legislation and to complete the development of the National Empowerment Policy Framework.
The board is also expected to implement empowerment programmes in all parts of the country.
Minister Kasukuwere pointed out that the board was generally expected to carry out awareness programmes on the national indigenisation and economic empowerment programme.
