Chabikwa elected ZCFU president

Chabikwa said he would lobby the Government and other agricultural stakeholders to create an environment conducive for production.
“We want to engage agro-processors to play a pivotal role in funding agriculture where their main raw materials come from,” he said.
“If all challenges facing farmers are addressed, there is no doubt Zimbabwe will retain its status as the breadbasket of southern Africa.”
Mr Chabikwa said the 2012/13 summer cropping season looked gloomy due to lack of funding from Government.
“There should be adequate funding for agriculture and farmers should have markets offering competitive prices if they are to remain in business,” he said.
“I believe farmers also deserve subsidies especially at the point of sale.”
