FARAI Gadzani, popularly known as Bling 4, is redefining Zimbabwean trap and hip-hop music with his latest album, Hosanna, a project that has resonated deeply with audiences across the nation.
Born and raised in the tight-knit community of Nyatate in Nyanga, the rising star’s journey — from humble beginnings to filling Chitungwiza’s Aquatic Complex (a feat previously achieved only by legend Alick Macheso) — proves his meteoric rise as a fresh, and compelling voice in music.
In an exclusive interview, Bling 4 traced his musical roots back to his childhood in Nyanga, where his talent first blossomed under his grandmother’s guidance. “I grew up singing in the Anglican Church,” he recalled.
“My grandmother and the congregation encouraged me, and that praise fuelled my passion. When I moved to Mbare in my fourth grade, my brother and the community steered me towards trap music — and that is when everything changed.”
Today, Bling 4’s catalogue boasts anthems like “Fire Emoji,” “Ndozviripo,” “Tinashe Mugabe,” and “Shiri Ngainaiwe,” solidifying his status as a favourite, not just in Nyanga and Mbare, but among Gen Z listeners nationwide.
His 2025 album launch, expertly promoted by Panashe “Moojayazw” Gurende, was a testament to his growing influence.
“Hosanna” opens with a bold trap-gospel title track, where Bling 4 lays bare his faith, a stark contrast to the bravado often associated with hip-hop. The album’s introspective tone reflects the struggles of modern life, while celebrating resilience—a theme that echoes his own journey.
Reflecting on his rise, Bling 4 credits his grassroots support system: “The ghetto has embraced me as one of their own. The love from Mbare and Nyanga keeps me grounded — it is hard to stay away.”
His breakthrough came after relentless hustle, recording freestyles on cellphones, before linking with producers like Goodbeats, and artistes such as Leo Magozz and Brian Jack.
The song, “Ndozviripo” became his turning point, but the path was not easy. “Financial hurdles, doubters, and balancing survival with my dreams were my biggest battles,” he admitted.
The 10-track “Hosanna” showcases his versatility, speaking to entrepreneurs, hustlers, and dreamers alike. His lyrics, set against hypnotic melodies, carry the wisdom of an artiste shaped by Nyanga’s hills and Mbare’s streets.
To aspiring musicians, Bling 4 offers a simple, but powerful message: “Never quit. You might be two steps away from your breakthrough. Stay faithful to your craft — success could be closer than you think.” With “Hosanna,” Bling 4 is not just making music — he is igniting a movement.
