THE Warriors are likely to be assured of the backing of fans when they take on their rivals in the African Nations Championship preliminary round matches after a local firm undertook to provide a 66-seater bus to ferry the fans to Cape Town. Nyaradzo Funeral Services, through their Six-Pack Plan, have provided transport to the national team supporters who will be able to meet their boarding costs in South Africa.
The company’s managing director Webster Chikengezha, yesterday said they have extended their hand to allow the supporters to travel.
“We are providing a bus for the supporters to Cape Town and we believe this will help boost the morale of our team in South Africa.
As Nyaradzo Group we are only providing the transport and those who are going should be able to take care of their accommodation and food requirements,” said Chikengezha.
Zifa’s supporters’ liaison officer Simeon Jamanda, yesterday said they want to form a unified force with Zimbabwean residents in South Africa in rallying behind the team.
“We are happy to announce that we have secured a bus for the fans to South Africa for the preliminary round matches. There is need to give our boys moral support and we should join those Zimbabweans in South Africa to cheer the boys.
“So we are grateful to Nyaradzo for the offer and we encourage fans from any clubs to come forward and rally behind the national team,” said Jamanda.
Jamanda said the bus is set to leave Zifa House tomorrow morning while the fans who wish to go will be cleared through Zifa and the Sports Commission after paying their deposit fees today.
“We need to guard against what happened in Mozambique the last time where some fans are alleged to have misbehaved.
“Now we need to verify people who are going so that we do not shame the nation,” said Jamanda.
Zimbabwe will open their Group B match with a game against Morocco on Sunday before they meet Uganda and Burkina Faso.
