NYARADZO Group, in partnership with Zimplats, recently donated sunhats, T-shirts and sunscreen lotions to the Albino Charity Association of Zimbabwe (ALCOZ).
Speaking at the handover ceremony in Norton last week, Nyaradzo Group public relations and corporate communications officer, Prudence Muganiwah Zvavanjanja, said the donation marked a significant milestone in their eight-year partnership with Zimplats in the corporate social responsibility initiative.
Nyaradzo Group donated 150 sunhats and 150 T-shirts, while Zimplats handed over 200 sunscreen lotions.
“Our partnership with Zimplats has enabled us to provide essential support to the albinism community, reaffirming our commitment to creating a more equitable society. Today, we gather in commemoration of World Albinism Day, celebrated annually on June 13, and to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to supporting individuals with albinism in our community. For eight remarkable years, we have proudly partnered with Zimplats to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most,” said Muganiwah Zvavanjanja.
She said the corporate social responsibility initiative is rooted in Nyaradzo Group’s core values and mantra of ‘taking care of our own.’
“We believe that every individual deserves dignity, respect, and equal opportunities. Through our partnership with Zimplats and the Albino Charity Association of Zimbabwe (ALCOZ), we have been privileged to provide essential support to the albinism community.
“Our journey together has been built on a foundation of compassion, empathy, and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with albinism. We remain committed to continuing our support, driven by our passion to create a more inclusive and equitable society,” she added.
People with albinism are required to wear hats and sunscreen to protect their skin from sun damage due to their lack of melanin, which is responsible for skin pigmentation and protection against UV rays.
Without this protection, they are at a higher risk of sunburn and developing skin cancer.
