RENOWNED dub poet, Albert Nyathi, has urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads.
The 60-year-old said he was worried by road carnages largely due to negligent driving and speeding.
“Driving is not a competition, but a way of moving from one point to another.
“We have lost many lives globally due to unnecessary road accidents, which can be easily prevented.
“In terms of accidents, I think our people simply need to exercise patience,” he said.
“Motorists need to learn to give each other a chance on the roads. Even if one is wrong, tolerance means respecting your life and that of the other driver,” he said.
The decorated dub poet urged motorists to respect the sanctity of life.
He pledged to conduct a number of workshops to address the issue of road carnages.
Nyathi has been fully utilising his influence to address a number of issues, including drug and substance abuse.
He has also been vocal in denouncing child rape, child marriages and gender-based violence.
Nyathi has penned several books and poems denouncing vice as well as defending children’s rights.
