A graphic designer offered to pay $50 000 in child support and then asked his ex-wife to cater for the remaining expenses.
David Lloyd was taken to court by his ex-wife, Jessica Mwaengena.
He told the court that he doesn’t work and is currently under the care of his father at a farm and recovering from an injury.
“I sustained an injury at home and I haven’t been able to work since then. She stays with her parents and goes to work. I don’t understand why she is bothering me knowing l can’t assist with anything due to injury,” he said.
Jessica declined the offer and demanded $150 000, saying she is tired of asking for assistance from her parents when the father of her child is alive.
“I have to pay some of the bills at home, and we are both under the care of our parents. Why should all the burden be on me.
“He is lying, he goes to work and our child needs money for extra lessons, transport and school fees as well,” she said.
Magistrate Ayanda Dhlamini ordered David to pay $60 000 per month in child support.
