Nyatsime owners told to wait a while longer

still under Mashonaland East province while Chitungwiza is under Harare Metropolitan province.
In a notice to beneficiaries, acting town clerk Mr Fungai Mbetsa said council “was undertaking a change of use of the six farms and their incorporation into the boundary of the town’s municipality from Mashonaland East province,” he said.

He said council was in the process of appointing a project manager to work with a committee comprising members appointed by the stand beneficiaries.
“Council will allow allottees to commence development of their stands once the above outstanding work has been completed,” he said.
The project consists of 10 542 high density stands, 1 670 medium density, 168 commercial, 2 879 low density, and 59 industrial stands.

Mr Mbetsa said bulk water provision was being addressed through an agreement with the Ministry of Water Resources and Development.
But the beneficiaries are demanding immediate occupation of their stands.

The beneficiaries want services to be provided while they occupy their properties while others are demanding a refund with some complaining they can no longer sustain rentals. Part of the US$2,5 million raised from the project since 2009 has been used to pay salaries, legal fees and computer development with only US$544 855 going towards the project.
