NYAU DANCERS CLOSE STREET IN MABVUKU

THE road leading to Kamunhu Shopping Centre in Mabvuku was closed temporarily yesterday as Nyau dancers celebrated the life of a fellow dancer, who died in a road traffic accident.

The dancer, Tinashe, popularly known as Gozo, died on Monday after his Toyota Wish collided with a commuter omnibus near Support Unit.

The arrival of his body in Mabvuku caused closure of the road as his coffin was paraded on the streets.

Mabvuku Primary students were treated to free Nyau dances after school as mourners gathered at a house opposite their school gate.

Gozo is said to have attempted a U-turn to pick up passengers waiting for transport.

“He wanted to pick up some passengers heading to Eastview and Tafara when he made a U-turn and met his fate,” said a resident who witnessed the accident.

Gozo is expected to be buried today.
