WE are the champions!
Mzilikazi and Real Stars of Makokoba last Wednesday got a timely boost of 30 soccer balls and a playing kit each after they came tops in an Under-12 and 14 football tournament at Matshobana ground.
The tournament also featured clubs from Nguboyenja and is the brainchild of Stanley Nyazamba, a Zimbabwean businessman based in the United States of America.
a�?Kidza a�?na�� and Kicks a�� a United States of America-based company which trains children who are aged between two and five assisted with money and in the sourcing of the equipment that we handed over to the champions,a�? said Nyazamba.
The tournament was graced by former Highlanders left back Gift Lunga (jnr), Chicken Inn manager Sikhumbuzo a�?Chinaa�? Banda and Agrippa Sibanda who also played for Bosso and the Young Warriors.
a�?We thought of inviting former players with big names to the tournament as a way of inspiring the young boys. I hope and believe it all gave them verve to further pursue football as a career. It was good to see the yesteryear greats come to watch the youngsters play football,a�? said Nyazamba.
He said the tournament was not about getting a winner or a loser. It was about inspiring youngsters who have passion for soccer to take a serious approach when playing the game.
Nyazamba got the inspiration to give back to the community from his friends in South Africa.
a�?There are two guys whom I work with from South Africa who inspired me to emulate their good gesture of giving back to the community. They are the ones who advised me to do the same thing in Zimbabwe particularly at a place where I was raised,a�? said Nyazamba. .
