Nyazema speaks out

out on the dispute that led to the player’s absence from Dynamos’ Champions League clash against MC Alger and lashed out at the Harare giants management for acting in bad faith over the fate of the Warriors international.
Gutu was conspicuous by his absence from Dynamos’ emphatic 4-1 victory over Algerian champions MC Alger in a Champions League first round, first leg tie at Rufaro on Sunday.
The Warriors midfielder had been in coach Lloyd Mutasa’s team but failed to show up for camp amid revelations that Nyazema had instructed Gutu not to play a competitive game until DeMbare had offered him a contract.
That move left Dynamos chairman Farai Munetsi seething with the DeMbare boss accusing Nyazema of being “unprofessional in his conduct”. But Nyazema yesterday hit back at Munetsi and made startling revelations that Gutu had not yet signed a contract with Dynamos giants. Nyazema also accused Munetsi of “lying to protect their shortcomings” and insisted he would only allow Gutu to turn out for Dynamos when the club had signed a contract with the player.
“Munetsi knows the truth.
“It is about a contract because as things stand, Archie does not have a contract with Dynamos and I will not allow him to play without a contract. It would not be safeguarding his interests if he plays without a contract because how will he claim to be a Dynamos player then, what basis will he use?” Nyazema said.
Nyazema also chronicled events that led to his decision to withdraw Gutu’s services arguing that he had given the Dynamos management a long grace period since July last year when the midfielder arrived from Ajax Cape Town.
“All along I was dealing with Manyau (Oliver) only to be told that he had been fired as secretary-general. We had tentatively agreed with Manyau on a contract for the player. “When Manyau went quiet then next thing I was told was that he had been fired and I was now supposed to deal with Chifamba (Nyika) but after days with no joy I was referred to the team manager Richard Chihoro who then brought a contract which to me is just a basic document that does not cater much of the player’s interests.
“I also made efforts to try and meet with Munetsi. Nyazema claimed that he had only resorted to withdrawing Gutu from the Dynamos set up after a proposed meeting with Munetsi on Saturday failed to materialise. I must also set the record straight that I did not withdraw the player from camp, Archie never went into camp in the first place because I had already told him not to. The last time I spoke to Munetsi on Saturday afternoon he had told me that they did not have money as a club but I tried to tell him to sort out the contract first.
“It is not about money, its about the correct way of conducting football business. I would not have minded if we had agreed a contract and they promise to pay up on 30 June or 31 July but at least a contract has to be there . . . in this case it is just not there.
“To show my commitment, I gave them the player for free in July last year and I personally moved mountains to get his reverse clearance from South Africa.
“It is my principle that I do not let the players that I manage to work without a contract because what of anything happens to them, what will be their fallback position.
“I learnt a lot of lessons from the way Francis Madziva (former Dynamos left back) was treated by Dynamos because I had to mobilise friends so that we could help Franco when he had been neglected by the club and no-one at Dynamos was taking care of his hospital bills.
