Nyikadzino faces former paymasters

SHEASHAM gaffer, John Nyikadzino, is set to take his troops into a battle against his former paymasters, Chapungu, in a ZIFA Central Region Division One Soccer League showdown at the weekend.

Nyikadzino’s men are calling the shots with 45 points in 19 fixtures.

He is making a good case for himself to claim his third championship in the ZIFA Central Region Division One Soccer League.

He won his first with Chapungu in 2013 and with Nichrut FC in 2017.

He told H-Metro there will always be a place in his heart for Chapungu.

“Chapungu will forever be a big club, the truth is in this case, we are the underdogs, who are just on top of the standings,” said Nyikadzino.

“We have enough respect for Chapungu, we are going to treat this fixture with maximum concentration.

“I made a name for myself at Chapungu and playing against them will always be difficult but when the duty calls, you answer.”

Nyikadzino won promotion with Chapungu in 2013 after losing just once.

Sheasham are five points clear at the summit and they are the only side yet to lose.

“We are not planning to finish the season without a loss, it’s something which we are not really thinking about,” he said.

“We are using the brick-by-brick approach, we need to be at our best all the time and I’m happy with the character, which the boys are showing.

“The boys are showing the hunger and it’s always encouraging, we want to consolidate our position at the top.”

Waru Waru, as Chapungu are affectionately known, parted ways with veteran coach, Moses “Bambo” Chunga recently.

They edged Loss Control 2-0 in an away fixture over the weekend.

Waru Waru are 17 points adrift of the leaders.

Tendai Chikuni’s TelOne are in contention for the Premiership ticket.

The WiFi Boys are five points off the pace.

They are coming from a 2-1 victory over perennial campaigners, Tongogara.

John “Senior” Phiri’s Loss Control will lock horns with Rowan Nenzo’s Filabusi United.
