PROMISING Liverpool midfielder Trey Nyoni is top of the BBC list of young footballers to watch when the 2024/25 English Premier League season gets underway this weekend.
Nyoni capped an impressive pre-season campaign with an outstanding goal against Sevilla in a 4-1 win at Anfield on Sunday.
BBC Sport’s football writers picked some of the youngsters they expect to make a name for themselves and Nyoni was put top of the list.
BBC Sport’s Nizaar Kinsella said of Nyoni:
“The 17-year-old midfielder has caught the eye of new manager Arne Slot during pre-season. He excelled in a friendly against Real Betis, which saw him singled out for praise by a manager who is usually reluctant to do so. Nyoni joined Liverpool from Leicester last summer.”
The other youngsters on the list include Josh Acheampong (Chelsea), Mikey Moore (Tottenham), Ethan Nwaneri (Arsenal), Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace), Jesurun Rak-Sakyi (Crystal Palace), Chido Obi-Martin (Man Utd), Nico O’Reilly (Manchester City), Michael Golding (Leicester City), Eric da Silva Moreira (Nottingham Forest), Pedro Lima (Wolves) and Harrison Armstrong (Everton).
