O-Access brings stars into your living room

electricity comes back. Well, one reader emailed me saying that there were more ways to kill a cat than one. She said it was high time I bought a generator and I couldn’t agree more.
Well, I do hope you had a blessed weekend filled with entertainment.
Last week, viewers of Channel O saw the return of O Access, a lifestyle magazine show on DStv and one of the glaring things was how Dineo Moeketsi, the host of the show, has become more rejuvenated.
The O-Access Season 6 returned last Tuesday, at 9.00pm with Dineo proving getting up close and personal with some of the world’s biggest stars is easy when one has the right touch.
Since taking up the reins of Africa’s popular entertainment show, Dineo has tracked down and interviewed a number of heavy hitters on the global entertainment scene — while having a load of fun herself.
“It’s been an awesome journey for me so far,” the effervescent presenter was quoted sas aying.
“But I do think that with this season we have really reached something special with the content and calilbre of artistes accessed.”
This season is split into three different themes The A-listers, Next Level and Lifestyle. Next Level and Lifestyle will interchange in every episode. Next Level takes a look at upcoming stars of the music industry.
The Lifestyle element takes a look into Dineo’s life overseas as she delves into what a day in the life of a celebrity is like in the United States of America. Whether it is salsa dancing classes or chatting to famous make-up artistes and hairstylists who have worked with the likes of Rihanna, Kelly Rowland, to mention a few; viewers will get to know the makings of a true star.
The A-Listers is a permanent fixture in each episode as this is a sit down interview with established stars in the music industry who have made their mark proving that they are here for the long haul.
O-Access also scored a coup when Dineo interviewed Mary J Blige, undoubtedly one of the most enduring R&B superstars and a woman whose past is as intriguing as what lies ahead. Also falling under the spell of Dineo’s intimate interviewing style and charm is US songwriter and singer Robin Thicke as well as the British wunderkind, Estelle.
The list of star interviewees continues with rapper and songwriter Kendrick Lamar (who recently toured with Drake) as well as American R&B singer and songwriter and Def Jam recording artiste Chrisette Michele. Also on Season 6 of O-Access is an interview with controversial new rapper Waka Flocka Flame, whose single “Round of Applause” featuring Drake has caused a stir.
In Season 5 Dineo sat down with Mindless Behaviour, the teen boy band which consists of members Prodigy, Roc Royal, Ray Ray and Princeton.
Less than a year later the group have become bona fide stars and Dineo catches up with them to see how their lives have changed since being thrust into the spotlight.
Factor in interviews with Lloyd, J Cole, Big Sean, B.O.B. and many more and you have a not-to-be-missed series for any entertainment fan!
Season 6 will be the final instalment of the ever popular series. “This is our final season of O Access and it has been an exciting journey, bringing some of the biggest names in the international entertainment scene to our pan-African viewers.
“We have more projects lined up that we are sure will set trends the way O-Access did when it started in 2006,” says Solly Moeng, Acting Head of Youth Channels.
The final season of O-Access kicked off on Tuesday, 6 March at 21:00. Repeats are aired on Mondays at 18:00; Fridays 13:00 and Sundays 11:00.
Until next week glory be to God.
