“He will be with Caps United for two years, he left Hwange today,” said a source.
Hwange secretary Burzil Dube said Moyo was free to join any club of his choice as his contract had expired.
“We wish him all the best in his new club,” said Dube whose executive fired Moyo and two other players, Gerald Ndlovu and midfielder Andrew Chuma.
The two were accused of indiscipline by the Tennant Chilumba-led technical bench.
Moyo, a tough defender and former Warriors player who also had stints in South Africa where he turned out for Pretoria University, is reported to have irked the Colliery management by asking for a $20 000 signing-on fee.
Caps United’s communications officer, Elam Makiwa, while confirming that Moyo was in their plans, could not be drawn into revealing the finer details of the deal.
“I cannot confirm anything as yet but yes, the player is here with us and we are talking to him. Give me a call tomorrow afternoon and I will give you everything you want,” said Makiwa from his base in the capital yesterday.
Meanwhile, Hwange have given Highlanders the green light to open talks with their former skipper Ndlovu who is still contracted to the Colliery side.
Dube said that the Bulawayo outfit wrote to them requesting for permission to talk to Ndlovu.
“While he is still contracted to us, we no longer have plans for him and we have given Highlanders the green light to talk to him and agree terms and then after that, we can then talk to Highlanders,” said Ndlovu.
Ndlovu is one of the few defenders in the local Premiership who can play in any position but is more comfortable in central defence where, if signed, he could partner the steely Innocent Mapuranga. Another former Hwange player, Chuma, is a free agent and has been training with Highlanders for a month.
Tapela confirmed that they had negotiated with Ndlovu and all that was left was for the player to put pen to paper.
“He is training with us and just waiting to put pen to paper. As for Chuma the coach is yet to advise us whether he wants him or not,” said Tapela.
Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu told Chronicle Sport on Tuesday that he would name his final 2012 squad next week.
