Mikel was not listed by the Chelsea interim manager, Rafa Benitez for Saturday’s FA Cup third round win at Southampton but Mikel claimed his absence had nothing to do with his current state of health.

“No, I had a knock two weeks ago and was told to rest for sometimes, but now am fit and I actually started training two days ago with the Chelsea first team.
“So there are no fears about any injury. I’m ready for the Nations Cup,” he said. — BBC Sport.
