Preparations for a gospel show dubbed “Okobo Night” scheduled for October 11 at Stodart Complex Centre in Mbare are at advanced stage. The name “Okobo”, which in one Nigerian dialect means a whip, will see top local gospel artistes performing.
Artwell Gomera, one of the organisers, said the event was not only for Christians but everyone.
“We chose the name Okobo because we want to focus on weeping and restoration of people’s lifestyles. It is an art of presentation hence many will be delivered. Last year, we had Sabastian Magacha who caused a stir with his scintillating performances and each year we are developing. We promise to give people a delightful gig,” he said.
He said the all-night gig would demystify the notion that nothing good comes out of Mbare.
“We have so many personalities and celebrities who were born and bred in Mbare. Think of anything you want that can help you in your lifestyle, I believe a third of it comes from Mbare. The Okobo Night is going to change that negative perception.
“We have realised that Mbare has got talent but the youths are not given the opportunity to shine. The night will also give them a platform to rub shoulders with artistes like Mudiwa Mtandwa, who will be performing and exchange notes. A number of youths from Heartfelt Ministries and other churches in Mbare such as Faith Ministries’ Kingdom Praise Choir will also warm up the stage,” he said.
The event which is in its third year running will be conducted by Pastor Paul Sanyangove together with Heartfelt International Ministries founder Apostle Tavonga Vutabwashe. Pastor Sanyangove promised people a miracle night.
