Old Mutual Zimbabwe has donated 250 blankets to Mpilo Hospital as part of its annual Winter Warmer Expo Campaign, aimed at providing warmth and comfort to patients and caregivers during the cold winter season.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Gladys Bugalo, Old Mutual’s Operations Manager, emphasized the company’s commitment to community service and compassion.
“Today, as we witness the impact of this collective effort, we are reminded of the power we hold when we come together to serve. We hope these blankets bring comfort as a reminder that you matter to us,” she said.

The Winter Warmer Campaign, a signature initiative by Old Mutual, seeks to offer solidarity, dignity, and hope during winter by donating blankets to institutions in need. Beneficiaries are selected through nominations by Old Mutual employees and community members via digital platforms. Other nominated institutions include Jairos Jiri and Mpilo Hospital.

With temperatures dropping sharply across Zimbabwe, the campaign aims to reach vulnerable institutions across all ten provinces, addressing the growing challenges faced during the cold season.
Bugalo highlighted that each blanket symbolizes the company’s core values of respect, integrity, and accountability.
“We bring these values to Mpilo Hospital, a place that embodies compassion, resilience, and community spirit,” she added. She also delivered a heartfelt message to caregivers and patients: “You are seen, you are valued, you are not alone.”

Mpilo Hospital’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr Narcusicus Dzanga, expressed gratitude on behalf of the hospital and its patients.
“We are so grateful that a company like Old Mutual has come to support us with blankets. No donation is too big or too small,” he said. Dr Dzanga noted that blankets are essential but often in short supply, especially during the harsh winter months, making this donation particularly valuable.

The Winter Warmer Campaign continues to provide not only physical warmth but also emotional support, reinforcing Old Mutual’s dedication to standing with communities across Zimbabwe in times of need.
