Old Mutual most preferred employer

The Top Employer Programmes are conducted in 13 countries, across all continents, and this year, more than 2 500 companies participated in the survey.
They programmes focus on firms that offer the best in terms of human resources policies and employee offering.
Running for years, this was the first time for Old Mutual Africa participated in an exercise where it was benchmarked against organisations that are well known for excellent human resources practices.
By being certified as a top employer, Old Mutual will be allowed to carry the Top Employers Africa Certification seal to confirm its place among premier employers globally.
Old Mutual Shared Services managing director Mr Simon Hammond, said the certification of Old Mutual Zimbabwe as the top employer on the continent consolidated the group’s overall reputation as an industry leader.
“We are very excited that Old Mutual Zimbabwe was certified as a top employer in Africa for the first time the certification is running in multiple African countries,” said Mr Hammond in a statement.
“This recognition is a clear testimony that Old Mutual is a responsible employer that cares about developing and rewarding its people.
“Only those companies that offer the best in class conditions for their employees earn the certification. We are therefore very proud that Old Mutual Zimbabwe was ranked among the Top Employers in Africa.
“Credit goes to the human resources team for their steadfast effort in making the group an employer of choice.”
The certification also adds to Old Mutual’s growing reputation as an employer of choice in Zimbabwe. Old Mutual is among foreign owned companies that came up with acceptable indigenisation plan in which it allocated 10 percent stake of the group (about US$12 million) to employees.
Old Mutual has a staff complement of 1 000 and when dependants are factored in, the impact of this is far reaching. – Business Reporter
