Old Mutual Zimbabwe has scooped the Top Employer in Africa 2014 award for the second year running after being certified as a top employer in Africa in a human resources survey conducted by a leading global institute.The award was accorded by the Corporate Research Foundation Institute. It is in recognition of Old Mutual’s human resources processes and systems.

Old Mutual acting group chief executive Mr Kevin Terry said he was humbled by the award, bearing in mind that this was the second time that his organisation had participated in the exercise.

In the survey, the Zimbabwean diversified financial services giant was benchmarked against organisations that are renowned for their excellence in human resources practices.

“This achievement confirms that our HR team is contributing significantly towards creating an outstanding working environment for our employees. This will enable us to continue attracting, developing and retaining the best talents.

“It is gratifying that all the hard work and effort that we invest into continuously improving our service to our staff is being recognised and will reap rewards on many levels.

“I would like to thank every member of the HR team for their dedication and efforts that have delivered a workplace that has distinguished us among the best,” said Mr Terry.

Old Mutual Zimbabwe is churning out executives who are doing well within the group, with several Zimbabweans occupying senior positions globally.

The Top Employer Programmes are conducted in 13 countries, across five continents and more than 2 500 companies participated in this year’s surveys.

The programme focuses on companies that offer the best in terms of human resources policies and employee offering. For being certified as a top employer in Africa, Old Mutual Zimbabwe will be allowed to carry the Top Employers Africa Certification Seal to confirm its place among premier employers globally.

The certification adds to Old Mutual’s growing reputation as an employer of choice in Zimbabwe. Old Mutual has a staff complement of just over 1 000 permanent employees.
