FORMER beauty queens and models who “still have it” are invited once more to shine on the ramp and prove they are still in the game.
A Zimbabwean beauty stands a chance to compete in the world’s third most prestigious pageant known as the Miss Supranational. The pageant would be held at the Sports Palace of Minsk in Belarus.
What makes the pageant unique is the age restriction as it is open to everyone up to the age of 27 years.
National licence holder of the pageant, Sarah Mpofu, said she was giving preference to former models who still had the interest the chance to take part in the pageant.

“Zimbabwe last took part in the pageant, three years ago and we got an invitation to take part in this year’s edition.
“I am inviting former models who still have the energy and beauty to come for casting because this is an international pageant and we have little time to prepare and groom the model, so former models are the best,” said Mpofu.

Casting would be done at Fingers Hair Salon on Wednesday.
Mpofu however, said the door was still open even to other models who feel they are ready for an international showcase.
Traditionally, the queen to represent the country in an international event is chosen through a pageant, but due to lack of time, former beauty queens will audition for that esteemed position.

“I only got the invite very late and I had to squeeze in a lot of things. Holding pageants all over the provinces will be too late because the details of the girl are needed before the end of the month.

It leaves me with no choice but to work with former title holders with experience so that there is less work to do,’’ Mpofu said.
The rules of the competition state that one should be without a child, not married and age limit should be 27 years.

Miss Supranational is an annual international beauty contest run by the World Beauty Association based in Panama.
The contest is also called Miss Supernatural and the new Miss Supranational 2013 will be elected in the Sports Palace of Minsk on 6 September.
Arrival date for entering the sight-seeing and rehearsal phase is 17 and 18 August and the contestants will depart from Belarus on 7 and 8 September 2013.

All candidates will be clad in national costumes, swim suits and evening gowns.
