SOUTHERN City will now have one match against Red Lions in the second tier Harare Province Rugby League encounter at Zengeza High 1 in Chitungwiza today.
The Chitungwiza side were expected to take part in a double header with another match against Police Defenders but the fixture has been cancelled.

One of the Defenders players, lock Ngonidzashe Chomusora, died in a car accident this week.

Southern City are on 24 points while Defenders are on 40 points.

Old Hararians II (Edwardians) are in third place with 18 points while Red Lions are on 14 points.

Airforce are on 10 points and will be hoping to get a win over Edwardians.

Meanwhile, Chomusora will be laid to rest at his rural home in Chiweshe today.

He was 33 and is survived by his wife and two children.

Defenders’ captain Jonas Basikoro said they have lost their most valuable player.

“We have lost one of the most valuable players. Chimusora was a very good lock and for us to find the exact replacement it is going to take time.
“He was a person we trusted and was one of the strongest players. It is very sad to lose him in a car accident.

“We are not going to play our fixture this weekend because we will be burying our beloved player.”
