When you have emotional stress expose it to God. Do not suppress your feelings because they will undoubtedly rage unchecked in the depths of your personality. Sickness like blood pressure is caused by an emotion that was suppressed years ago.
You might be thinking that you have dealt with it but it was just covered up. Pour your emotions out and not suppress them. Ask God to check your heart. Your wife or husband is your best friend. As a man or woman of God talk to your spouse about what you are feeling.
When you are on the pulpit you are the centre of attacks. Therefore it is very important to have a strong marriage. You need a wife or husband who prays with you and stands by you. Never take church issues into your home in a negative way because it will affect your relationship with your wife and family.
A strong marriage equals a strong church. There is a spiritual exchange where you carry all the people’s problems. The more people come the more the burdens and the more the emotions rise. So it is important to deal with them. Never idolise negative emotions by nursing them and allowing them to grow.
At times when you share your problems with someone, you might find that you have told someone who adds on to your stress. Do not go to people who fuel your complaints and your weaknesses because if you have bitterness it will grow. Tell someone who is emotionally mature. Be careful who you open up to.
When people are not happy with someone they gravitate towards someone else who is not happy with that same person without realising that it is a demon leading them to that person, thereby creating an ungodly alliance.
If you are wise you would go and speak to someone who loves that person. Men of God end up with bigger problems sometimes because of opening up to the wrong people.
Open up to someone on a higher level than you. Realise that the sheep you are shepherding belong to God, hand them and every other situation over to Him. We are also called to be overcomers.
