Orphans get 500 chicks

Masvingo Correspondent
Renowned Masvingo businessman Mr Taurai Mudzwiti, affectionately known as Bucho, last week donated 500 day-old chicks to orphans at Alpha Cottage during his 40th birthday celebrations.

He said proceeds from the poultry project would be turned into a revolving fund to finance the beneficiaries’ educational needs.
Mr Mudzwiti is the managing director of Bucho Enterprises, which does franchising and retailing for Econet Wireless in Masvingo

Mr Mudzwiti said he had also committed another 250 day-old chicks to be handed over to disadvantaged pupils at Francis Aphiri Primary School in Masvingo city.

“The objective of the donations is to enable socially disadvantaged pupils, especially those from child-headed families to raise funds for their school fees,” he said.

Companies in Masvingo came out in support of Mr Mudzwiti’s gesture and with 40 cakes being distributed to old people and children’s homes in the province.

Other beneficiaries were Ngomahuru Hospital, Mucheke Old People’s Home, Zimcare Trust and Alpha Cottage.
“I am passionate about the welfare of orphans and other vulnerable children because l was raised by a poor family,” said Mr Mudzwiti. “There are many children around failing to reach their educational destiny even if they have the potential, due to poverty and limited resources to fund their education.

“With that in mind as Bucho Enterprises we are mobilising the business community to pool our resources to assist such chil- dren.”
