KIDS are innocent souls who copy from those people around them.
Future role models are inspired by those who raise them.
The kids are shaped and groomed by the elders around them.
At family level, they copy from their parents or guardians.
This is a challenge to parents to ensure that we give our kids a bright future.
As parents, we should always try to be role models.
Failure to do that will have a bearing on our children that will certainly come back to haunt us.
No matter how poor the parents are, they should always show love to their children and try by all means to provide for them.
At least, parents should always be there for their kids.
By doing so, parents will be sowing the fertile seeds of love, responsibility and hope.
Toxic situations should be avoided by all means possible.
Perennial fights, unnecessary arguments and bickering in the presence of kids have no place in parenting.
As parents, we should always create moments that will be cherished, for years to come, by our kids and grandchildren
The way we carry ourselves, both in public and indoors, as parents, has psychological effects on our children.
We should always avoid drama as parents since it affects our kids.
Last week, we ran yet another sad story of a Harare man who has developed a sickening habit of peeing on food and clothes each time he gets drunk.
The man has also been accused of bed-wetting each time he drinks alcohol.
Added to that, the man is said to be a nuisance to his family, children and co-tenants as a result of his wild conduct.
In court, he blamed it on alcohol and apologised to his wife. Despite his apology, the protection order was granted in favour of his wife.
The presiding magistrate urged the couple to seek professional counselling after the respondent claimed his wife disrespected him.
It was sad to note how a grown-up man was dragged to court for something he can take control of.
Of course, addiction is hard to fight and conquer but a responsible man should know his limits, when drinking beer.
The best advice we can give him is to quit the bottle if he can’t control himself.
There are several men out there who are feared by their kids when they get drunk.
Some get violent while others become a nuisance.
There are others who lose valuables each time they go on a binging spree.
This kind of behaviour is totally unacceptable, especially in the presence of kids.
Parenting should come with pride and a sense of responsibility.
As parents, we should leave footprints that will inspire our kids to do the right things in life.
Kids are fragile and yet intelligent to read between the lines.
A real parent should be a role model and responsible.
