‘OUR UNITY IS DRIVING US’

CAPS United captain, Tonderai Mateyaunga, said unity within the team has been their main weapon in their good start to the season.

Makepekepe host Hwange on Sunday in a Castle Lager Premiership match at the National Sports Stadium.

Mateyaunga said it was an honour to lead such a “special” group of players.

“As teammates, we have been there for each other. “I think the unity among us has been crucial in all our games.

“I am so grateful and honoured to be leading this group of so many achievers.

“It’s quite motivational to be the leader.”

CAPS United coach, Lloyd Chitembwe, says it was all about improving and getting the right results.

“We have nothing new to work on but to maintain physical, technical, tactical and mental aspects.

“We have been looking at things to do with the behaviour of individuals, the team and the group in both phases – the attack and the defence.

“We want to continue improving and developing individuals and also developing as a team.”

He added:

“Last weekend’s game was very important. It was a game in which we did not play very well. “It gave me an opportunity to explore the team.

“Sometimes, in football, it’s impossible to win all the matches playing so well.

“So, last week, was an example of a match we did not play well but got the result we wanted.

“Mentally that goes to show the level of mental strength, which the boys have.”

The Green Machine will retain their place, in second place, or take over as leaders of the championship race, if they beat the unpredictable coalminers.
