Our Warriors of shame

THE Zimbabwe national soccer team, now ranked number 131 on the latest Fifa Rankings, find themselves in the worst position ever achieved beating the previous worst of 127 attained in March 2011.

The latest rankings suggest that the team dropped a massive 23 places, only one place less than the worst mover, Libya in the current period.

The slip could be attributed to Kallisto Pasuwaas men horrendous display at the just ended Chan 2016 tournament in Rwanda.

Zimbabwe had poor preparations playing no friendlies ahead of the tournament and were found wanting despite creating good chances in all their games as they crashed out at the group stages with a single point, falling twice to Zambia and Mali and drew with Uganda.

The Warriors are set to resume qualifiers for the Afcon 2017 next month with back to back matches against Swaziland.

In Africa, star studdedA Ivory Coast are still the best ranked side followed by Cape Verde, Algeria, Ghana and Senegal.
