Outgoing Namibian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Nicklaas Kandjii, paid a courtesy call on Acting President Constantino Chiwenga on Monday morning, emphasising the strong ties between the two nations.

Speaking after the meeting, the Ambassador Kandjii highlighted the potential for enhanced collaboration in trade and economic affairs.

He said during his tour of duty, he noted that Namibia and Zimbabwe share a history of excellent relations, underpinned by mutual respect and cooperation.

He pointed out that the two countries have signed approximately 30 Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) in recent years, covering various sectors.

“If you recall, during the Covid-19 era, Zimbabwe assisted us in airlifting vaccines from China to Namibia. Zimbabwe also donated 20 vaccines to us, and that is the manifestation of excellent relations,” said Ambassador Kandjii.

“We have more than 30 MOUs between us. Remember, Zimbabwe also has a dry port in Walvis Bay for export to Western countries.”

The Ambassador said the dry port is also a conduit for increased trade between the two countries.
