Over 11 950 dog bite cases recorded nationwide this year

OVER 11 950 people have been bitten by dogs nationwide since the beginning of the year, the latest disease surveillance report shows.

According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care’s report for the week ending May 11, released today, there were 528 dog bites reported, but no deaths.

Of these, 112 were bitten by vaccinated dogs, 97 by unvaccinated dogs, and 319 by dogs of unknown status.

The highest cases were reported from Manicaland Province with 97 followed by Mashonaland East Province with 85.

Cumulatively, since the beginning of the year, there have been 11 958 dog bites reported and zero deaths.
