Over 200 graduates on Wednesday received their certificates after completing various courses at Chivi-Mhandamabwe Vocational Training Centre.
Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training Minister, Tino Machakaire, presided over the graduation ceremony that also saw the graduates receive starter-packs from Care International and Japan Supplementary Budget (JSB) worth US$100 000.
The graduates successfully completed courses in cosmetology, hotel and catering, welding and tailoring.
The handover of the starter packs to all the 203 Chivi-Mhandamabwe graduates has been hailed as a game-changing move that empowers them to be self-reliant as self-employed citizens and job creators.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Machakaire paid tribute to the Second Republic and its development partners for extending support to young people to participate in the mainstream economy.
He said the youth empowerment drive by President Mnangagwa’s administration showed that it was walking the talk on the “leaving no one and no place behind” mantra.
Empowering young people, added Minister Machakaire, also helped the nation to curb the drug and substance abuse menace that is rampant amongst the country’s youths.
