Over 500 000 people have received both doses

A total of 584 770 people have received both of their Covid -19 doses as at July 8 since the start of the vaccination programme in February this year.

According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC), as at the same date, 29 750 people received their first vaccine doses bringing a total of 848 808 people being vaccinated with the first dose vaccine.

So far, 5 071 people have received their second dose bringing the total to 584 770 people.

According to the ministry, the country recorded 62 383 confirmed cases, 2 029 deaths and 42 855 recoveries.

As at July 8, the country recorded 56 deaths.

A total of 12 811 Covid -19 tests were done and 2 156 new cases were recorded.

The national recovery rate now stands at 69 percent.

Some of the hotspots include Karoi, Magunje, Kariba, Chinhoyi, Bindura, Mt Darwin, Seke and Marondera.

The country is on national level 4 lockdown
