MORE than 700 people have been allocated stands in Gweru, among them civil servants.

The Zimbabwe Housing Project Trust which is rolling out the housing project has a target to avail 10 000 stands in the Midlands province.

On Saturday, 500 people were allocated stands in Fortune Meadowlands Park, a medium density suburb in Gweru.

This followed another hand-over ceremony on Wednesday and Monday last week which saw 32 stands being handed to Chapungu Football Club players and another 200 to Zimbabwe national army members in the same suburb.

Speaking to The Chronicle (ZHPT) Midlands Branch Manager Mr Jameson Museke said beneficiaries of the stands were contributing $65 per month and the stands cost $5 000 each.

He said the last allocation which was done on Saturday benefited Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) employees.

“On Saturday we distributed 500 stands to ZETDC employees and soon the stands will be ready for construction. We wil soon service the stands,” said Mr Museke. — @patiemtsiwi
