MORE than 700 Zengeza West Ward 12 residents graduated on Saturday, August 9, 2025, in a ceremony held at Divine Family International Ministries, Zengeza 3. The event, organised by Tonganyika Trust and facilitated by Ward 12 Councillor Virginia Nyarai Chisango, is a major boost to Government efforts to equip citizens with practical skills in line with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030.

The graduates completed training in ICT, driving, early childhood development teaching, care giving, hotel and catering, detergent formulation, receptionist duties, welding, building, interior decoration, housekeeping, and mortuary science. These skills are designed to help participants find work or start their own businesses in Zimbabwe’s changing economy.

Addressing the graduates, Councillor Virginia Nyarai Chisango encouraged them to make use of their new skills and not wait for someone else to provide opportunities.

“Don’t wait for someone to give you a job. You have what it takes to start your own companies and make a difference. Work together and support each other across your different professions. That way, you can build something powerful right here in Zengeza West,” she said.

She challenged the new graduates to collaborate:

“A welder can work with a builder, a caterer with a decorator. By complementing each other, you can create businesses that serve our community’s needs.”

Zanu PF Zengeza West Central Committee Member, Cde Prosper Mushonga, urged the graduates to put their qualifications to good use.

“Don’t let your certificates gather dust. Under President Mnangagwa, we are working to make sure no one is left behind and no one goes hungry. Zanu PF wants everyone to have something to do, and everyone to move forward together,” he said.

Councillor for Zengeza East, Cde Leah Chidamba, called on women to support each other in their professional and personal lives.

“A queen doesn’t lose her crown by fixing another queen’s crown, and a candle doesn’t lose its light by lighting another. Let’s lift each other up and shine together,” she said.

Cde Soul Murangwa, Tonganyika Trust National Coordinator, said the organisation’s mission was to give all Zimbabweans a platform to grow and succeed.

“ZANU-PF is here to make sure everyone has a chance to develop and expand their potential. Skills development brings dignity and real opportunities. We want everyone to play a part in building Zimbabwe’s future,” he said.

Tonganyika Trust has become a leading force in training young people and women in practical skills, helping to address unemployment.
