LONDON. — Mesut Ozil has delivered a stunning swipe at his critics and told Arsenal’s legends to shut up and start supporting the team.
The polarising German international winger has less than 12 months remaining on his deal at the Emirates and is reportedly demanding £300 000-a-week to sign an extension.
His refusal to commit his future, alongside Alexis Sanchez’s determination to leave the Emirates, has ensured a miserable mood around Gunners in recent weeks.
And that has been compounded with a dreadful start to the Premier League season, suffering a 1-0 defeat at Stoke before Arsene Wenger’s side were thumped 4-0 in a calamitous display at Liverpool last week.
Ozil, and his team-mates, has come under fierce criticism from a number of former Arsenal stars such as Thierry Henry and Martin Keown. But the ex-Real Madrid ace has hit back in a near 700-word rant on Instagram.
The full-damning transcript he posted read: “It’s September 2nd, 2017. I’m with the German national team right now.” — The Sun.
