MANNY PACQUIAO has CONFIRMED talks are under way for a stunning rematch against Floyd Mayweather.
Netflix — boxing’s newest broadcasting powerhouse — are leading negotiations for a sequel over a DECADE in the making. Pacquiao revealed discussions are ongoing —and threw down the gauntlet to Mayweather.
He told SunSport in Manila: “As long as Floyd will come back. I’m active in boxing, it’s possible.
“There is talk. Like I said, I’m happy to start talking about, discussing about a possible rematch with Floyd.
“Of course, there’s a good chance to have a rematch because I’m still active —it’s only if he will come back that’s possible.”
Mayweather settled years of debate with his 2015 points win over Pacquiao which smashed all boxing records.
Over £500MILLION was made from their 4.4million US pay-per-view sales alone with a further £55m banked in ticket sales. But despite the mind-boggling revenue — a rematch failed to materialise — although always refusing to go away.
Pacquiao claimed he tore his rotator cuff in sparring just a month before boxing’s most lucrative fight and was denied anti-inflammatory shots.
As the agonising ten year wait for redemption carries on, Pacquiao said: “I’ve been motivated since after the fight.
“After the operation, I was OK to get back in the ring and fight again. Right now, God is good and giving me strength and good health to continue my career as a boxer.”Mayweather, 48, retired two years after the box office blockbuster, beating the UFC’s Conor McGregor, 37, to sign off with a perfect 50-0 record.
But the American icon has remained in the ring by boxing in exhibitions against stars of the boxing, MMA and social media world.
His last came in August 2024 against the grandson of notorious mob boss John Gotti.
Pacquiao, 46, meanwhile returned after four years out in July for a controversial WBC welterweight world title shot against Mario Barrios, 30. The Filipino great —a champion in EIGHT divisions — was deemed unfortunate to fail in his title bid walking away with just a draw. But with a rematch against Mayweather back in the frame, Pacquiao warned: “I’m a fighter as well. I’m not ducking anybody. I can fight anybody.”
Netflix are ready to front the cash for Pacquiao to rematch Mayweather — eyed for next year back in Las Vegas.
The streaming giants exploded onto the boxing scene last November when Jake Paul beat Mike Tyson with over 100 MILLION tuning in. Terence Crawford’s win over Canelo Alvarez also brought 43m Netflix viewers, while Paul takes on Gervonta Davis in a November 14 exhibition bout.
It remains to be seen if Mayweather will make a comeback to put his prized record on the line — despite continuous teases to do so.Pacquiao has also signed on as the Vice President of IBA Pro — formerly known as AIBA —who lost its Olympic recognition in 2023 over allegations of corruption.
They continue to host amateur world championship events but have now moved into the world of pro boxing.
And Pacquiao is promoting the Thrilla in Manila 2 —with Muhammad Ali’s grandson Nico Ali Walsh fighting 50 years after the heavyweight legend’s famous win over Joe Frazier.
Pacquiao said: “I never imagined I’d be able to promote this anniversary of Ali-Frazier 2.“It’s an honour and privilege to promote this anniversary. It’s still so big, the fight is our history in boxing, one of the greatest fight in history.”— Sun
