“I would say the poetry sector in Zimbabwe has been doing well as it is growing,” she said.

“There are several new writers emerging. That is a good sign. It is in the right direction, certainly. We hope there will be more poetry events, more poetry books and so forth.”

Globally, poetry has evolved over time and adapted into numerous forms throughout various eras. Inspiration, personal experiences, world events, and history have been common and influential factors across all time periods.

The evolution of poetry escalated during fertile creative times and in particularly open societies. New styles of poems have emerged in the past century to capture readers’ attention through social commentary and new voices.

While new forms may bloom, all come from the same roots, and poetry is still evolving to represent modern interests.
