Rarely do farm workers have time to see the country’s top musicians performing as the only time they can do so is when the State stages galas in their proximity. Most of the music lovers have to be contend to listening to their favourite musicians on radio, watch them on television and follow what they are doing in newspapers.

However, this is not the case with people living around the farms in Glendale, as they have the opportunity to see some of the established artistes in action occasionally at Kahuku Gochi Gochi Inn.

The place located in the heart of Glendale farms had been frequented by well-known musicians in recent times.
Rising star Peter Moyo, comedian Freddy “Kapfupi” Manjalima, First “Mari Yechema” Farai, Nicholas “Madzibaba” Zakaria, Progress “Progy” Chipfumo, Somandla “Mafia” Ndebele, Taruvinga “Sugar Sugar” Manjokoto and Simon Mutambi have all set foot on the joint that is proving very popular in Mashonaland Central.

So fascinated is Kapfupi that he is planning to launch his album at the venue.
But what makes the place tick?

The proprietor of the place, Richard “Kahuku” Mupanemunda, said the place provides entertainment to fun-starved farm people.

“I always get some thank you from many people. The place provides a hideout to patrons who want to party without the watchful eyes of others. I just said to myself, I should bring entertainment to the farms when I was involved in a car accident coming from having fun in Harare,” he said.

Kahuku said many people had money in the area but the problem is that they do not have where to spend it.

“People usually make money in the farms but some are afraid to travel as Harare or Bindura to have fun,” he said.

Kahuku occasionally stages a Nyau Festival at the place to promote the cultural practice that is widely accepted in the area.
Local artistes from the provinces also play at the venue.

Kahuku said his wish is to bring artistes such as Jah Prayzah, Suluman Chimbetu and Alick Macheso who have not yet performed there before.

“Macheso has a lot of following here. We have talked to his manager, and preparations are on course to bring him.
‘‘We also talked to Suluman’s manager and he showed a keen interest to perform here,” he said.

The place has a braai area, a stage and a bar.
