Having been perceived as a social outcast,
Just as the clock strikes 5 o’clock am,
Being mercilessly spitted on your face,
Being splashed water that is as cold as ice,
Is how you are woken up to do chores as an orphaned African girl child,
Whilst many others are still in their fantasy world.
Helplessly without uttering a word,
Being tongue tied with the fact that you have no other place to shelter in,
You are just obliged to do everything single handedly and suffer in silence.
Having the thought of being rejected by your own bloodline who
brought you into this world hovering in your mind,
Makes the situation even more excruciating.
With no one to support you in your pain,
You just cry in vain.
With no one’s shoulders to lean on,
With no one to wipe your tears as they flow like a river,
You just have to go down on your knees,
Seek God’s guidance and assistance,
As He will always stand by you,
Help you through when you have done all you could do and you can’t cope.
Dry your eyes,
Fight your fights,
Hold you so tight and do not let go.
