Pair convicted of theft

TWO of the four suspects in the case involving the theft of foodstuffs belonging to Zanu-PF politician, Cde Tafadzwa Musarara, were last week convicted of the offence by Bindura magistrate, Mrs Vongai Guwuriro. The convicted are Boyd Fungulani (40) of Rockwood Farm, Concession and Jonah Ngwenya (43) of Number 3, NRZ Quarters, Bindura.

The other suspect Shingirai Chisango (49) of Number 3764, Chiwaridzo, Bindura was acquitted, while Lens Faranando of Number 35 of 8/ 40 Chipadze Street failed to appear in court and a warrant of arrest was issued against him.

Mrs Guwuriro fined Fungulani $100 and an additional three months were wholly suspended on condition that he does not commit a similar offence within the next five years, while Ngwenya got a 24-month jail sentence of which 12 months were suspended on condition that he does not commit a similar offence in the next five years.

Ngwenya was spared jail time after the remaining 12 months were shelved on condition that he performs 420 hours of community service at Chipadze Clinic.
