TWO men have duped steel company, Shash Steel (Pvt) Ltd of equipment worth US$2650.
Elton Nhamo Chawodzera, 50, and Nixon Shamhuyarira, 55, were not asked to plead when they appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi, over the weekend.
The complainant is Tapiwa Mushonga, who is the Shash Steel managing director.
The court heard that the pair and their suspected accomplice, Kelvin Motsi, who is at large, connived to dupe Mushonga.
In pursuit of their plan, they allegedly called her, masquerading as Bikita Lithium Mine employees, who intended to buy mining equipment, including angle and deformed bars from Shash Steel.
Mushonga told them that it would cost them US$3430.
The pair allegedly went on to create a fake proof of payment in Bikita Lithium Mine’s name and presented it to Mushonga.
Acting on the misrepresentation, Mushonga gave them equipment worth US$2650, which they loaded into their vehicle and drove off.
Mushonga went to check with her bank if the money had been transferred and that was when she found out that the proof of payment was fake and filed a police report.
Nothing was recovered.
