Pair lose in boxing finals but Olympics hopes still on

TWO Zimbabwean boxers Tadious Dzandiwandira and Trade Nkomozabo last night failed to clear their respective final hurdles in the just-ended Tanzania International Open Boxing Tournament.
The tournament was part of a series of events to which boxers accumulate points which will eventually be tallied to determine those to qualify for the upcoming Olympic Games.
The Zimbabwean duo missed several previous tournaments and they were hoping to add to what they have with victories in their respective weight categories having stormed into the finals.
However welterweight pugilist Nkomozabo lost to Steven Anastazia of Tanzania 5-0 while Dzandiwandira failed to make it past Adam Hassan.
The two can still make the cut to the winter Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan if they pick significant points in the upcoming tournament scheduled for the DR Congo in the coming couple of weeks.
Veteran coaches Alexander Kwangwari and Stephen Masiyambumbi accompanied the boxers.
