Organised by Chipaz Promotions in partnership with Savanna Tobacco, the makers of Pacific, the show will also afford revellers to mix and mingle with their icons on the day.
Show spokesperson Partson Chimboza of Chipaz Promotions extended his appreciation to Savanna for supporting arts initiatives in a big way.
“This show and several others that we hope will follow will further enhance good relations that currently exist between Savanna and a number of artistes in the country and it is my hope that we will continued to come up with similar initiatives.’’
Chimboza added that it was for that reason that his organisation decided to bring together Alick and Jah Prayzah for a show.
The two are no strangers to live gigs and have on several occasion’s proved their mettle in front of their legions of fans, who enjoy their music.
From the time he strummed his first guitar in the late 1990s in Shamva, Alick’s brand has grown over the years.
When others struggle to articulate issues, Alick displays the unusual gift of poetry. His lyrics elicit an easy-going camaraderie.
According to author Memory Chirere, Alick sings like the guy from next door, very familiar and liberating.
That is why he is the favourite man of the ordinary mechanic, the unassuming kombi driver, the seller of ordinary wares and many more.
‘‘If you look and listen, Macheso’s lyrics appeal to the little and remote reserves of energy in the people of a country faced with economic challenges.
“For instance if you listen to Upenyu Hwemunhu (Life), you sit back in the kombi, and feel very private and secure. Indeed upenyu hwemunhu hunozivikanwa nemurarami wahwo — only the individual really knows where his/her life is.
“You want to laugh and cry, too, because in these moments of hardships we have all done many shameful things just in order to get to the next day,” he notes.
On the other hand, although Jah Prayzah may be described as a rookie, having been in the sector for less than two years, the young crooner has ably asserted himself as capable artiste with a bright future ahead.
He is also endowed with powerful vocal and composition skills unrivalled by many of his compatriots, which has made his music original.
No one would have guessed that this young man born on July 4, 1987 would one day become a hit and one of Zimbabwe’s most sought-after musicians.
